How does a Roomba fit into my cleaning routine?

Think of Roomba as your daily helper. It keeps that freshly vacuumed look that we all love right through the week until your next major cleaning. We like to call that the “in-between” clean. Floors are often so hard to keep up with due to all the daily traffic. This little robot keeps up with the dirt and debris, so you don’t have to.

Do I have to program it?

Absolutely not. We’re trying to give you less work, not more work. Roomba is designed to be easy to use. Just take it out of the box, charge the battery overnight and it’s ready to vacuum. If your Roomba has an on-board scheduling feature, you can set the times you want it to vacuum (like when you’re not home). It’s as easy as setting your alarm clock.

Is there any maintenance I need to worry about?

Because Roomba is a real vacuum, you will need to do real vacuum things like emptying the bin after each use, cleaning the filter and using the handy brush cleaning tool to get the hair and debris Roomba grabs off your floor out of its brushes. Do these simple things and Roomba will be happy to work for you for a long time.

How do I decide which Roomba is right for me?

There is a Roomba that is right for your home and your lifestyle, and we’re happy to help you find it. We offer models specifically created for homes with pets, models that can be scheduled to clean when you’re away, models that head back to their dock and automatically charge their battery, as well as beginner or starter models. If you need help making a decision, just give us a call.

Is there a warranty?

All of our cleaning robots have a one-year warranty and a 30-day money-back guarantee. We want you to try it out and make sure it’s right for your home. Buying a robot is new to most people, but once you see it in action, we’re sure you’ll be amazed and want to keep your robot busy in your home. And, iRobot has very helpful representatives in our technical support service centers waiting to answer any questions you have.

What else will I need to buy to get started?

Nothing! Everything you need to get Roomba started comes in the box it arrives in. Of course, we recommend that you change the filters every two months and monitor all parts for wear from regular use. When it comes time to buy filters or brushes (or even a new color faceplate), visit our website for everything you need to keep Roomba running.

How will my pets react?

Most pets adapt quickly to our vacuum cleaning robots, but it’s a good idea to supervise the initial introduction. Their first meeting is always fun to watch - they might even jump on for a ride!

How do I get the most out of the Roomba battery?

It might sound funny, but the best way to prolong battery life is to keep using your robot and keep that battery charged! Also, keeping the brushes and filters clean allows Roomba to use less juice with each cleaning cycle. So, if you have pets that leave lots of hair, please clean those brushes after each use and use your standard vacuum for deep cleanings.

What to expect "out-of-the-box"

  1. Depending on which model you purchase, these are some basic steps to getting Roomba ready for vacuuming your home.
  2. First you’ll need to charge Roomba overnight.
  3. Straighten up a bit. While Roomba can navigate under and around furniture, the less clutter, the less time Roomba needs to determine the best cleaning route.
  4. Press Clean and watch Roomba do its magic. (Or get a cup of coffee, totally up to you, Roomba will keep working if you’re there or not.)
  5. When Roomba finishes cleaning, be sure to empty out the bin. Because Roomba really is a vacuum, it picks up lots of dirt and debris that should be emptied after each cleaning.
  6. After every few uses, take out Roomba’s brushes and give them a quick cleaning.
